Key Responsibilities
-
Apply solid-state NMR (ssNMR) spectroscopy to acquire and interpret multinuclear data (¹H, ¹ F, ¹³C, ¹ N, etc.) for molecular structure elucidation.
-
Characterize pharmaceutical materials (particles, powders, suspensions, APIs, excipients, intermediates, drug products).
-
Use quantitative ssNMR methods to measure drug components and ensure product quality.
-
Integrate molecular modeling, solution NMR, and X-ray crystallography for 3D structural evaluation.
-
Prepare and troubleshoot ssNMR experiments, including Bruker ssNMR probe changes.
-
Ensure proper data backup, retrieval, and detailed technical reporting.
-
Stay current with scientific literature and contribute to the design and execution of new experiments.
-
Present findings at internal scientific meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry or related field.
-
1–3 years of hands-on solid-state NMR spectroscopy experience in pharmaceutical R&D.
-
Strong background in solution NMR for structure elucidation.
-
Experience with sample preparation, data acquisition, and interpretation of multinuclear NMR data.
-
Ability to implement and troubleshoot ssNMR experiments and operate Bruker ssNMR systems.
-
Solid understanding of molecular structure, interatomic distances, hydrogen bonding, torsion strain, and interactions.
-
Excellent oral/written communication, laboratory safety practices, and record keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with computational modeling (qm-DFT, Monte Carlo, Gaussian, Schrodinger, Materials Studio, CCDC software).
-
Familiarity with Linux/HPC clusters for molecular simulations.
-
Background in membrane protein sample preparation and biological applications of ssNMR.
-
Prior collaboration within diverse, cross-functional scientific teams.
