Overview:
The Mind Research Network (MRN), a division of the Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute (LBRI), is seeking a Research Assistant II to join Dr. Candelaria-Cook’s lab. The successful candidate will support an NIH-funded research project focused on spatial memory development in children and adolescents. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1) participant recruitment and coordination, 2) data collection & management, including neurocognitive assessments and MEG and MRI data acquisition, 3) compliance with human research regulations and safety procedures, 4) support preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts, 5) team collaboration. As this position involves working as part of a research team, as well as working with children and their families, applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related research field and 6 months or more of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities and have been attained.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
• Comfort working in clinical and imaging environments with minors.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new techniques.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
The Mind Research Network is division of Lovelace dedicated to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and brain injury.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications :
• Experience with neuroimaging, particularly MEG and/or MRI data collection.
• Prior experience working with children or with clinical populations.
• Experience in human subjects research, including familiarity with IRB protocols and ethical guidelines.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments.
• Programming or data-science experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, or similar).
• Experience conducting neurocognitive assessments.

Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a dry laboratory environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. May interact with research participants.

Salary:
Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
