POSITION SUMMARY

Zoetis is the largest animal health company in the world with an industry-leading research and development team. Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Analytical Sciences in Lincoln, NE is seeking an assay development professional at the Associate Scientist/Senior Associate Scientist level. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for implementation and programming support of automation for analytical sample preparation, dilutions and ELISA assays for projects from early research through late-stage development and transfer into QC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Design and conduct laboratory experiments including analytical method optimization, validation and transfer using automation. Primary techniques include ELISA utilizing spectrophotometry, fluorescence or chemiluminescence, MSD. May include immunoaffinity based separations, mass spectrometry, HPLC or other techniques using automation to support analytical testing.
* Perform analytical methods on automation as necessary to support characterization and release of biological ingredients of vaccine and biopharmaceutical product.
* Design, set up, and improve automation set up for analytical assays and data analysis.
* Documentation, reporting, and communication of results in electronic laboratory notebooks, technical reports, PowerPoint presentations, and oral presentations.
* Interface with other scientists in a variety of technical disciplines including process development, formulation development, clinical operations, quality control, quality assurance, discovery, and manufacturing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate Scientist

* BS in Biosystems Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 0-3 years of experience with knowledge of ELISA optimization and/or laboratory automation
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrated experience with optimization of ELISA methods
* Programming experience with Python, Alteryx, SQL or other languages

Senior Associate Scientist

* BS or MS in Biosystems Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 3-5 years (BS) or 0-3 years (MS) of experience with knowledge of ELISA optimization and/or laboratory automation
* Excellent oral and written technical communication skills
* Demonstrated experience with optimization of ELISA methods
* Programming experience with Python, Alteryx, SQL or other languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience with other analytical techniques (LCMS, HPLC, 2-D gels, cell-based assays).
* Experience with laboratory automation
* Coursework and understanding of statistical analysis of assays, design of experiments (DOE) and technical problem-solving skills
