Job Description:
Pay Range: $45hr – $53hr
- The Clinical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for independently performing moderate to highly complex clinical tests, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with established laboratory procedures.
- This role involves maintaining equipment, preparing reagents, performing quality control, and supporting laboratory efficiency and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform moderate to highly complex clinical tests following established procedures and policies.
- Prepare reagents, media, stock solutions, standards, and controls; evaluate new reagents or controls for effectiveness.
- Determine specimen acceptability for testing and perform calculations using manual or computerized methods.
- Accurately enter and verify test results, maintaining turnaround time for reporting.
- Evaluate and validate routine and complex analyses before releasing patient results.
- Identify and respond appropriately to critical or unexpected results, documenting all actions.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Conduct and assess instrument performance checks, including linearity, accuracy, and precision testing.
- Execute quality control and calibration procedures, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Perform and record proficiency testing accurately and timely.
- Maintain reagent and supply tracking and labeling; ensure a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate effectively with staff, management, suppliers, and customers to support a positive environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in evaluating new techniques, developing procedures, cost analyses, and establishing reference ranges.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and infection control policies.
- Provide supervision and training to unlicensed staff as required.
- Maintain professional development through continuing education meeting California state licensure requirements.
- Handle phone calls, messages, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Work Experience:
- 0 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong typing and automation skills preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; assistance required for heavier items.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with fine hand manipulation and good eye-hand coordination.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must pass color vision testing if required for job functions.
Qualification and Education:
- Bachelor s degree (BS) in Medical Technology or Life/Physical Sciences from an accredited college or university is required.
