Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Clinical & Research IT Technologist – Oncology will be to provide technological and organizational assistance to oncology-focused clinical operations as well as research and applied science operations Of the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute’s (MCI) multiple locations; the primary duties of this position are day-to-day delivery of IT services via established collaborative relationships with clinical and business managers, to be responsive to end user requests, work with IT leadership on operational and strategic planning, enforce the organization’s IT policies and to perform other duties as assigned by technology managers and directors; developing teamwork, collaboration, problem solving capabilities and unification among team members are critical; it is expected that the Clinical & Research Oncology IT Technologist have technical expertise as well as advanced troubleshooting abilities; this role will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of organizational skills as well as the ability to maintain a schedule of complex operations to be performed in the support of MCI’s daily clinical and research operations; this role requires one abide by and assist with enforcement of all compliance requirements and policies as defined by the organization, conduct one’s self with a level of professionalism and ethical behavior, adhere to university and health system data policies regarding confidentiality and HIPAA; the position will be assisting their manager in daily operations as well as participating in the planning, growth and development of the department; regular attendance and active participation in meetings as requested will be required as well as collaborative work on departmental strategy, budgeting, purchasing; this position requires intrastate travel in the support of multiple oncology business, clinics and misc. centers as well as some after-hour duties; t is expected that this role establish effective working relationships with other leaders and managers and will interact with various departments to serve as a technical liaison by translating business and practice needs into technology based solutions with the assistance of their manager or other coworkers; participate in on-call schedule for MCI Clinical & Research Technology; report daily to Mobile or Baldwin county as required by manager; works the assigned schedule including scheduled overtime as required’ completes all mandatory education/compliance requirements; collect and analyze feedback about IT projects from project sponsors; other duties as assigned by the IT Managers and their assigned director.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in information technology or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years of IT experience, or a bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field. Five years of formal IT experience may substitute for the required education.
