The Opportunity
This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division where we’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
As the Clinical Scientist II you will coordinate research efforts with academic-based independent investigators and other investigators and stakeholders. Collaboratively conceive, execute and communicate research or development strategies that achieve project and area goals. Lead research efforts on his/her own project and contribute scientific insights into other projects, including clinical research. Anticipate and critically evaluate scientific or regulatory advances. Consistently demonstrate excellent record of accomplishment of scientific and business objectives.
What You’ll Work On
Coordinates scientific and clinical research interactions with independent investigators and key opinion leaders in the field.
Supports overall coordination of investigator initiated studies from initial proposal discussion, review, management and periodic updates.
Supports identifying and summarizing relevant scientific proceedings at medical conferences.
Serves as a liaison between the medical and clinical teams regarding on-going and planned research projects.
Interacts with stakeholders to resolve scientific and technical challenges.
Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
Makes contributions to scientific literature and conferences.
Assist with product development as a member of product development teams (develop project plans, conduct and participate in design reviews, develop analytical methods). May participate in development of patent applications.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including office of ethics and compliance policies, and performing other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
4 years of experience
Familiar with standard laboratory techniques.
Able to present orally and in writing at a professional level.
Able to perform proficiently under applicable regulatory requirements: ISO, FDA or any recognized quality standards and requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrate a high degree of responsibility in maintaining scientific standards, GxP compliance, and safe laboratory practices for self and reporting staff.
Assume a high level of responsibility in setting and achieving team goals.
Independently identify and communicate issues and opportunities.
Keep accurate and current records of research and/or project activities according to Abbott policies.
Presents original work at internal and external meetings.
