Job Description
The Oncology Bioinformatics team is seeking a talented and highly motivated Computational Scientist (Contract) with a strong background in computational biology and/or cancer immunology.
He/She will support personalized cancer immunotherapy research.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in bioinformatics, data science and/or data engineering, preferably in MHC genomics, target and neoantigen discovery and selection.
Position Details
This will be a full-time contract position for an initial period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension. This position is onsite or hybrid in the Pacific time zone.
Responsibilities
Maintain bioinformatics and data infrastructure for research projects related to individualized cancer immunotherapy
Collaborate with computational biologists, AI scientists and engineers
Maintain excellent documentation, and data analysis practices to ensure reproducible data science
Present findings to the Cancer Immunogenomics group and collaborators.
Requirements
PhD (or Master’s with significant experience) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
Extensive experience in data and bioinformatics infrastructure (including curation, databases and workflows), particularly for AI/ML projects
Solid understanding of the relevant concepts in cancer immunology and enthusiasm for learning more
Broad understanding of data generated from one or more molecular assays: next generation sequencing platforms, ELIspot, mass spectrometry etc.
Proficiency in R, Python, and shell scripting.
Experience working with Git and high-performance computing.
High self-motivation and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Excellent communication skills
Experience working as part of multiple high-performance teams
Preferable experience in complex data analysis and/or modeling in MHC genomics and/or cancer immunology, particularly in cancer vaccine and cell therapy research.
Preferable experience in AI/ML and/or statistical modeling
