Introduction
Join our dynamic team in the Microscopy and Spectroscopy Lab (MSL) within the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MS&T) group. We are looking for a dedicated professional to conduct investigations involving the physical and chemical characterization and identification of materials in manufacturing processes for cell therapy products. This role will also involve investigating defective materials such as filters, single-use bioprocess containers, tubing, and polymeric fittings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Broad-based experience in analytical and pharmaceutical chemistry with hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art analytical technology, including microscopy, spectroscopy, FT-IR, confocal Raman, SEM/EDX, UV Vis, and NIR.
Experience utilizing spectroscopic techniques for protein identification and characterization is highly desirable.
Understanding of GMP regulations and experience with investigations involving particulate and foreign matter.
Proven "bench" experience in forensic investigational work or analytical chemistry.
Excellent scientific, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency with scientific software, including spectral data processing, hypercube spectral imaging, and standard office applications.
High level of initiative, requiring minimal direction or oversight.
Knowledge of cGMPs, compendial, and FDA regulations.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science or related field, with a preference for a Master’s degree.
At least 5 years of experience using analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, SEM/EDX, and microscopes.
Knowledge of protein and cell chemistry related to structure and function.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Conduct microanalytical investigations involving the physical and chemical characterization and identification of materials related to cell therapy products.
Support day-to-day activities in the Microscopy and Spectroscopy lab, including lab supply replenishment, analysis request distribution, and interfacing with Facilities and EHS.
Apply a wide variety of analytical testing techniques, including microscopy and spectroscopy techniques such as UV/Vis, FT-IR, Raman, NIR, SEM/EDX, particle sizing and counting, and wet chemistry.
Provide timely and efficient technical support and write comprehensive technical reports to document all analytical improvement or investigation projects.
Perform laboratory work to support defective material and foreign matter assessments and conduct analytical troubleshooting to solve manufacturing-related problems.
