Toolkit Tutors is a provider of in-school and after-school tutoring services, dedicated to enhancing student learning through personalized instruction and unwavering support.

Job Description:

Pay: $32/hr

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Biology Tutor to join our team in Queens. In this role, you will provide in-person tutoring to high school students during the day, focusing exclusively on Biology concepts and exam preparation. This role requires a tutor who can write and speak in Spanish fluently, as many of the students are native Spanish speakers who are learning English.

Compensation and Schedule:

  • Target Launch Date: November 10, 2025
  • Program End Date: January 16, 2026 (potential to extend through June 2026)
  • Schedule: Two 5-hour days each week
  • Pay: $32 per hour
  • Pay Frequency: Weekly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individualized tutoring sessions to help students master Biology concepts and prepare for the new Biology Regents exam.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to keep students engaged and motivated.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to foster a supportive learning environment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Science Education, Biology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience tutoring or teaching high school Biology.
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Familiarity with the New York State Regents exams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates who have been fingerprinted by the NYCDOE are strongly preferred.
