Currently we have an opening for a Research Technician located in South San Francisco, CA. Details for the position are as follows:
Pay Range: $27-$37/hour
Overview:
12-month contract with the possibility of extending or converting to permanent based on performance and budget.
The candidate will assist with and conduct animal studies to test potential therapies in the eye. The ideal candidate is organized, driven, and enjoys working in a team. Must haves include experience working with and dosing (IP, SQ, and IV) small rodents, conducting lab based research, and familiarity with basic microscope imaging. Experience in ocular or neuroscience research is a major plus.
The ocular group in Translational Immunology Department is seeking a motivated and flexible Research Technician Contractor to assist with in vivo animal studies and in vitro characterization of preclinical endpoints. The successful candidate will assist with developing animal models of ocular diseases such as Glaucoma and AMD. This individual is expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative team setting to evaluate therapeutic candidates for blinding retinal diseases.
Job Description:
With a solid in vivo experience and rodent handling, the successful candidate will assist with studies that require in vivo multimodal imaging (OCT, fundus, angiography), measuring retinal function (ERG, pERG, VEP) and behavioral testing.
Dosing small rodents (IP, SQ, PO, and IV), ocular tissue collection, tissue processing for immunohistochemistry, and image processing/quantification.
This individual will work with several researchers within the team to advance multiple projects.
Work will be required on some weekends.
Requirements:
The successful applicant will have a BS in neuroscience, immunology, molecular/cell biology, animal science or related field.
They will be comfortable working with small rodents and have experience in a lab setting.
Those familiar with techniques including ocular injections, microdissection, immunohistochemistry or electrophysiology will be given precedence.
Good oral/written communication skills, problem-solving, and flexibility are a must.
