Now part of a global multinational business, their fast growing multidisciplinary scientific and engineering product development group is looking to recruit an Instrumentation Scientist on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

The Instrumentation Development Scientist supports the Project Manager and conducts instrumentational development tasks for new products, bespoke customer requests and sustainability and product improvements. Responsibilities also include supporting the Project Manager in the generation and maintenance of technical documentation. You’ll be working in a team with mechanical, optical, electrical and software engineers and will also communicate to other teams such as marketing, applications, sales, operations, and production, as required. The ability to present ideas and information accurately in a clear and concise manner is important.

Responsibilities:

You should have a degree or higher in a physical science discipline with experience and understanding of the practical use, and theoretical principles of optical spectroscopic equipment including; UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Fluorescence Spectrophotometers and Microplate Spectrophotometers. You should also possess good, broad, practical experience of handling and operating scientific instrumentation, and working in scientific laboratories. Alongside this you’ll need to be competent in the use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Relevant experience within the scientific industry, ideally in research and development (R&D) environments, would be beneficial as would prior exposure to scientific optical design. Experience working within quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, is desirable and proficiency in preparing standard solutions using accurate weighing and pipetting techniques is preferred.

Although primarily needed to work on site you will likely be able to work from home one day a week once established in role. If you are an aspiring Instrumentation Scientist, really committed to joining something new, fresh and totally innovative then we would love to hear from you. The scale and variety of opportunities and technology to work on makes this one of the best and most exciting opportunities in Central Scotland. A highly competitive salary and package tailored to your experience is on offer for the right candidate. However, the chance to be part of something truly unique makes this too good to refuse.
