Lab Associate

The Lab Associate role in the life science industry focuses on supporting daily laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This temporary position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of laboratory protocols and procedures.

Client Details

The employer is a medium-sized organisation operating within the life science sector, known for its commitment to innovation and excellence. The company offers a collaborative environment where employees contribute to advancing scientific solutions.

Description

Assist in conducting laboratory experiments and tests, following established protocols.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Prepare and coordinate all materials and instruments for surgical training sessions.
Manage logistics and inventory of surgical tools and consumables.
Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the lab environment.
Support the smooth running of training sessions (but not involved in delivering training).
Work closely with the permanent Lab Associate and four surgical trainers.
Document and report findings accurately in compliance with regulatory standards.
Ensure the laboratory remains clean, organised, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Support the preparation of samples and materials for testing purposes.
Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve any procedural issues.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines while working in the lab.
Provide administrative support related to lab operations as required.Profile

A successful Lab Associate should have:

Ideally a background in a relevant scientific field such as biology or chemistry.
Ideally experience working in a laboratory environment with knowledge of standard protocols.

Someone with lab, logistics, or hospital experience.
Could suit a former nurse, medical technician, or someone with project/process experience in healthcare.
Also suitable for someone with a health/medical-related degree and at least 1 year of work experience.
Must be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Needs to be agile, open to change, and able to work with demanding stakeholders (e.g. surgeons).
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
An understanding of safety and compliance standards within the life science industry.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.Job Offer

A competitive daily rate of approximately £130 to £170 per day, depending on experience.
