Job Description:
Exciting Employment Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Specimen Processing Lab team!
Role Overview:
Review requisitions and order entry orders to verify the accuracy of corresponding specimens, and enter required data into the computer
Prepare specimens for testing or send out to another laboratory for testing using the laboratory computer system
Maintain a complete, accurate, and organized file system, filing addition/correction sheets, requisitions, and reference laboratories’ results according to laboratory guidelines
Maintain an organized and secure supply area and reagent storage area to ensure easy access to reagents, chemicals, and supplies
Contribute to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area
Key Requirements:
High school diploma/GED + 1-2 years of confirmed experience
Strong digital literacy in Word and Excel
Core Skills:
Excellent information leadership skills to communicate, explain, interpret, share, and present information to laboratory and hospital staff
An effective communicator, capable of resolving how best to reach different audiences
Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances
Adept at crafting partnerships and working collaboratively to meet shared objectives and goals
Very comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Additional Information:
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM; regular weekend rotation.
100% onsite
Location: Center for Laboratory Medicine, 327 E 64th Street in NYC
Reporting to: Assistant Manager, Laboratory Medicine
Pay Range: $22.52-$31.13
