Medical Physicist (Contract)
Location: Boise, ID 83706 – Onsite
Contract Type: 3+ Months Contractor
Department: Oncology Administration
Shift timings: 07:00-19:00 Monday to Friday
Per Week: 36 Hours
Experience with EPIC, ARIA RadOnc, SHARE DRIVE CTC-RadOnc preferred. Certification by ABR.
Seeking an experienced Medical Physicist to support the Oncology Administration department. This role ensures the safe, effective delivery of radiation therapy, supports treatment planning, maintains radiotherapy quality assurance programs, and provides technical guidance to clinical teams.
The Medical Physicist will work in a high-paced environment and collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, dosimetrists, and clinical staff to maintain exceptional standards of radiation safety, compliance, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Technical Duties
- Plan, verify, and ensure accurate delivery of patient radiation treatments.
- Analyze diagnostic images, simulation data, and treatment plans for clinical accuracy.
- Provide expertise on nuclear imaging and radiation processes.
- Develop, evaluate, or procure radiation-related medical equipment.
- Oversee and manage radiotherapy quality assurance (QA) programs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and ABR standards.
- Support new technology implementation and system upgrades.
Patient & Staff Support
- Work directly with patients to explain treatment plans and safety procedures.
- Provide radiation protection guidance to physicians, clinicians, and technical staff.
- Train, mentor, and update staff on physics-related protocols and advancements.
Operational, Education & Research
- Perform routine QA on treatment machines and imaging systems.
- Support clinical research, audits, chart reviews, and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in teaching, documentation, and educational programs.
Required Experience & Skills
- ABR Certification (American Board of Radiology) – Required
- Experience with the following systems:
- EPIC
- ARIA RadOnc
- SHARE DRIVE CTC-RadOnc
- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy physics, treatment planning systems, and QA equipment.
- Excellent analytical ability for data interpretation and plan optimization.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
- Experience in fast-paced oncology or academic medical centers.
- Familiarity with advanced treatment technologies such as:
- IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, IGRT
