Prison-Cleared Registered Nurse – Durham
Location: Durham
Rate: £28.00 – £32.00 per hour (depending on shift type and experience)
Contract: 3 – 6 months (with likely extension)
Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time, Flexible Shifts Available (Days, Nights, Weekends)
Belmont Recruitment are looking for Registered Nurses (RGNs or RMNs) with current prison clearance (CTC) to join the healthcare team at a busy prison in Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced nurses who thrive in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environments and are passionate about delivering quality care within secure settings.
You’ll be supporting the primary care team in delivering a wide range of clinical interventions, from minor injury and illness management to long-term condition care, triage, medication rounds, and mental health support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to prisoners with varying physical and mental health needs
* Carrying out assessments, triage, and care planning in line with clinical guidelines
* Administering medications, managing wound care, and supporting health promotion activities
* Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including GPs, mental health professionals, substance misuse teams, and prison officers
* Responding to medical emergencies within the prison estate
* Maintaining accurate and confidential clinical records
* Ensuring adherence to all safeguarding, security, and risk management protocols
Requirements:
* NMC Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN)
* Current prison clearance (CTC/NPPV) – essential
* Previous experience working in prison healthcare, police custody, or secure settings
