Overview:
Research Assistant – RI CIPP Sheftall

 

The Center for Suicide Prevention and Research is hiring a research assistant (RA) for the Sheftall Research Lab. The primary role of the research assistant (RA) will be to collect data for a study examining early vulnerability factors in children at risk for suicidal behavior. Data will be collected on children ages 6 to 11 years and their biological parent/legal guardian. These families will be recruited from Nationwide Children’s Hospital Primary Care Centers (NCH-PCCs), the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Emergency Department (NCH-ED), and behavioral health clinics at NCH.

Responsibilities:
Recruit families and obtain informed consent for study participation.

Screen potential participants, schedule, and track study visits.

Facilitate the completion of standardized and computerized measures to assess neurocognitive functioning and emotion regulation/reactivity in children and parents/legal guardians.

Facilitate observational tasks to assess family dynamics and emotion regulation/reactivity.

Enter and clean data.

Other administrative/research duties as required

Note: Regular, reliable and consistent attendance is an essential job function. Employees are expected to perform work as scheduled.

Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a social science, health or behavioral field.

Preferred Experience:

Must be able to use research methods in generating and collecting data and analyzing the data for report preparation.

Must be computer literate.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Must have ability to manage details, work independently, and meet deadlines.

Additionally, applicants must be self-motivated to meet project deadlines, detail orientated, a great problem solver, and adapt quickly to all situations that may arise.

 Applicants must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate families’ schedules.

Interest and experience working with children and their families.

Experience with observational data collection methods.
