Overview:
Our long-term client relationship with Boeing Corporation has led to a need for a Software Lab Test Technical Specialist on the Boeing Engineering and Technical Services (BETS-SWS) contract located in Huntsville, AL.

 

BETS-SWS provides support Boeing’s Houston-based International Space Station, Space Shuttle, and other site programs under the Boeing Engineering & Technical Services Support (BETS) contracts. BETS consists of six unique support areas, and the Barrios team provides software development support including the critical flight software used by NASA to support to ISS and Space Shuttle programs.

Responsibilities:
The Software Lab Test Technical Specialist will:

 

Support the International Space Station (ISS) Payload Software lab test activities at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. 

Support several labs specific to software development and test that Boeing is responsible for maintaining and supporting NASA on-orbit operations.

Maintain operational state of equipment to designated drawings and perform necessary, safe handling and hook up of critical hardware to support ISS Payload development and test. 

Design, develop, apparatus build, testing, integration and support of lab tools, computing tools, software, systems and networks supporting Engineering design, simulations, test systems and environments, test computing elements and laboratory/test networks. 

Utilize Electrical/Mechanical expertise that may entail harness wiring and environmental conditioning of the labs and equipment.

Work to document procedures and maintain lab and lab equipment in clean and good working condition and  be compliant to program inventory requirements. 

Support analysis of customer and stakeholder requirements to support troubleshooting and optimum utilization of lab resources. 

Assist development of plans for test utilization of computing environments.

Maintain, administer and support basic integrated electronic/computing systems, databases and software for lab systems and equipment/products in support of the verification and validation of aerospace products. 

Provide liaison support and information to other program disciplines to maintain operational status and configuration control of the labs. 

Ability to work in a team environment with both Boeing and non-Boeing personnel.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or any equivalent combination of education/experience.

OR

BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education/experience.

OR

BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education/experience.

OR

BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and fifteen (15) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education/experience.

 

Preferences:

Experience with handling of sensitive and critical hardware.

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training (on-job access to certification training could be provided).

Understanding of or experience processing accountable equipment per FAR-45 regulations or equivalent.

Understanding of Procurement and Nonconformance tracking system used by Boeing or equivalent.

Previous experience with NASA of flight software and Government property management and inventory control desired.

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.

Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
