DESCRIPTION:The Forensic Engineer is a front-line customer facing position with responsibility andaccountability to inspect an in-progress or assess a completed construction project and conducta final reporting product for Quality Assurance and Quality Control. This position will alsorequire leadership of others assisting on multiple projects.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Accountable for the quality and workmanship of every activity, precise knowledge of all aspects of construction relating to Architectural, Civil, Structural, and MEP discipline interfacing the multidisciplinary processes. Perform site observations and gather information related to construction defects in buildings Responsible for QA/QC documentation of the complete project including calibration of equipment when necessary, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance and site observation reports, when required the review of permanent materials delivered and other important QA/QC documents. Develop and determine all standards to perform inspections and observations on all procedures and oversee all testing methods and maintain high standards of quality for all processes. Review of constructions documents to assess the completeness of the plans. Write expert reports and respond to other engineers reports. Observe integrity of all system installations and materials at the site and ensure compliance with plans, all project specifications and standards of construction and collaborate with the project design and construction teams. Supervise the effective implementation of all inspection schedules and ensure adherence to all procedures. Coordinate with the project management or representative site in-charge for inspections. Analyze all products and non-conformance processes and evaluate all documents to ensure the maintenance of optimal quality and prepare either quarterly or monthly reports to evaluate performance. Monitor an efficient system and record for all project activities and analyze all processes to ensure all work according to quality requirements. Manage all work methods and maintain knowledge on all quality assurance standards and monitor continuous application for all quality assurance processes and recommend corrective actions for all processes. Report to the QA/QC Manager. Control and monitor all activities related to construction quality. Scope of construction risk including observations and photographs within agreed time frame. All services secured in a manner to provide recommendations to minimize construction and claims risk. Complete and organize project files. Weekly reporting on active QA/QC inspection and loss control project assignments.KEY RELATIONSHIPSInternal: Director of Business Development- Job Performance against Goals / Objectives, Customer Facing Project Interface Head Forensic Engineer- Oversee Team, Work Schedule & Budgeting Accounting- Billing Status, Expense ReportingExternal: Insured/Owner Rep- Owns the relationship and must coordinate and keep them informed regarding observations to be performed and impact on the overall project. General Contractor Subcontractors and ConsultantsADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience: Graduated in engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Masters degree required. 5+ years of experience in structural/forensic engineering or related field Experience in the evaluation of building envelopes, exterior stucco, and water intrusions, preferred. Experience related to the architectural, mechanical, plumbing and/or electrical design and construction of buildings, preferred. Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) required Leadership experience in related disciplines such as project management is preferred. Knowledge of local building codes and construction standards. OSHA certificationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Construction sequencing, means and methods Sales and marketing Review project design plans and construction documents Strong report writing skills Provide detailed and technical inspection reports Scheduling/Subcontractor coordination Project management Negotiating Cost projecting OSHA and project safety Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment Extremely detail-oriented Great troubleshooting skills Working knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes Excellent organization and time-management Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Revit, or AutoCad Review inspections personnel qualifications and training requirements Monitor the disposition of all issued non-conformance reports Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the QA/QC programs for projects Recommend and implement improvements when requiredTRAVEL: Must be licensed to drive a company vehicle. Position entails being able to leave for a project site on a moments notice and remain on-site, as long as required (including holidays and weekends).
