We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturer seeking a Vice President of Quality Assurance to lead the development, deployment, and enforcement of quality standards across all manufacturing and product lines. This role will focus on internal quality processes, distribution center inspections, external quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives—including the transition from Quality Control (QC) to a Quality Assurance (QA) mindset. The VP of QA will work closely with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and external customers.
Responsibilities:
Establish, implement, and direct quality assurance strategies and programs to ensure conformance to quality standards for raw materials, components, and finished goods
Lead and manage quality activities across internal teams and contract manufacturers
Partner with manufacturing operations to enforce compliance with product and packaging specifications as well as regulatory standards
Collaborate with R&D during product launches and establish checkpoints for testing new products, components, and processes
Identify and drive corrective actions for process or product deficiencies
Develop and deploy quality systems, metrics, and standards to reduce supplier issues, internal rework, and improve customer satisfaction
Manage the material review board process to optimize raw material usage, reduce WIP, and improve First Time Right metrics
Lead continuous improvement efforts, hoshin activities, and global QA processes to align with company strategy
Monitor and analyze internal audit processes to enhance quality across all operations
Oversee departmental budget and resource planning
Design and deliver quality training programs focused on problem-solving and continuous improvement for operations teams
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
7+ years of Quality Management experience
10+ years of experience in lean manufacturing, including lean operating system deployment
Experience in plant transformation and change management
Experience in food manufacturing required
Experience with BRC (British Retail Consortium) standards
Expertise in Six Sigma principles and tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE), FMEA, statistical software, reliability and repeatability analysis
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools like 5S, Kanban, Poka Yoke, value stream mapping, and work element analysis
Strong presentation skills, business acumen, and conflict resolution capabilities
Ability to thrive in a matrixed organization while owning site-specific priorities
Self-starter with leadership skills, attention to detail, and a drive for continuous improvement
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Sciences, or related field required
Master’s degree in Quality Systems, Business, or Engineering preferred
Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management certifications are a plus
