Responsibilities : – This position is responsible for the validation/auditing of Special Processes at key Aerospace suppliers. – The position requires breadth of technical knowledge in special process disciplines / NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) including knowledge and experience across products in order to work with our sites and customers in determining appropriate special process requirement execution and process conformity. – The successful candidate will have experience in auditing diverse teams, communicating with leadership, managing challenging customer issues, and solving complex problems where a degree of ambiguity exists. Key job responsibilities: – Perform Special Process assessments and audits per customer requirements using Customer supplied checklists. – Document findings associated with noncompliances and work with supplier locations to ensure robust root cause corrective actions are completed on time and effective. – Must have experience in auditing the following areas/special processes: Conventional Machining, Chemical Processing, Heat Treat, Welding and Coating as per the list under the experience section. Basic Qualifications: Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail. Education: – Quality Engineering resources will have a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline (i.e., engineering, computer science, quality assurance) with 13 years of experience. In lieu of formal education, at least 20 years of applicable experience is in the aerospace, automotive, and/or other required industries or related field. Process Training: – 40 hours Quality System training, auditing and use of Acceptance Checklists (AC). Experience: – The applicable experience should include one or more of the following areas: quality, manufacturing, design engineering, training, etc. – In addition, Quality Engineers working on FAIRs should be trained in AS9102 requirements and the Root-Cause, Corrective Action process. – The Quality Engineer will have adequate knowledge in multiple special processes to ensure the effectiveness of the processes that shall be reviewed and documented as required per customers checklist and Source Certified Agent (SCA) support. – The Quality Engineer shall have experience at using reviewing, documenting, and updating as required the following documents. PFMEA, Special Process Assessment Checklist, Detailed Inspection Plan Review and Update, and Control Plans. – The Quality Engineer shall have experience with the implementation and use of the APQP/PPAP process. – The Quality Engineer shall have a basic understanding of the Special Processes below and be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a minimum of 2-3 special process areas. – The Customer may elect to provide additional training in the areas below to augment individual experience. – Nondestructive Testing (NDT): MT, PT, RT, UT, ET" – Braze (BRZ) – Electrical and Wiring (E & W): Printed Boards, Printed Board Assy, Cable and Harness, Conformal Coating. – Chemical Processing (CP): Paint, DFL, Anodize, Etching, Conversion Coating. – Casting (CAST) – Heat Treat (HT): Includes Furnace Brazing, Hardness and Conductivity Testing. – Forging (Forge): & Melt Conversion (MC) – Nonconventional Machining (NM): EDM, ECG, ECM, LBM, AWJM. – Surface Enhancement (SE): Shot Peen, Glass Bead Peen, Peen Forming. – Thermal Coatings (TC): Plating, Vapor Dep, Diffusion, Thermal Spray. – Special Process: TI – Welding (WLD): Fusion, Laser, Resistance, Inertia, (Includes torch and induction brazing)" Additional Preferred Qualifications: – Ability to travel minimum of 50% of the time – Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business or Technical discipline – Qualified auditor to industry requirements for AS9100 and or a minimum of two or more special processes – Knowledge of NADCAP and Special Processes Hands on experience with any of the Special Processes will be a plus. – Working knowledge of aerospace quality practices and industry standards – Strong computer skills with high level proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint. – Strong communication skills both verbal and written. – Ability to interface effectively with teams and customers. – Ability to identify risks and mitigating actions to achieve positive results. – Effective interpersonal skills to interface within and between culturally diverse organizations, data, define actions, and implement solutions. – Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for implementing solutions. – Knowledge and application of statistical analysis methods is preferred. – Experience with Aerospace products and processes – Capable of making fact-based decisions and communicating to team members why certain facts or recommendations prevailed over others. – Performs all other duties as assigned. BA/BS degree in a technical discipline (i.e., engineering, computer science, quality assurance) with 13 years of experience.
