Assistant Geologist – Stratigraphy Focus New Grad Geology Assist with field related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, and collection of soil for physical testing. Assist in research and analysis of the regional geology and depositional environments related to a project site. This includes identifying appropriate lithofacies models that represent subsurface conditions. Assist in constructing stratigraphic cross section profiles which includes evaluation of individual boring logs and construct graphic grainsize logs (GSLs) for input into cross section software. Assist in performing stratigraphic interpretation of subsurface: Integrate the knowledge of regional geology, depositional environments, and facies models to make geologically-sound interpretations and correlations between data points. Assist in assessing soil and groundwater data, developing soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results. Assist with proposal and report writing for environmental based projects. Assist in coordinating and scheduling subcontractors for field investigation activities and assisting with site remediation planning and implementation. Assist in coordinating laboratory analysis appropriate to the proper identification and evaluation of samples. Assist with on-site field monitoring to document compliance with various federal, state, and local permit requirements during project construction. All other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related Environmental degree is required. Master’s degree in Geology, preferred. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office are required. Basic familiarization with the Unified Soil Classification System, a general understanding of glacial deposits, and a basic understanding of hydrogeology and groundwater sampling. Basic understanding of OSHA and a basic understanding of CERCLA and remedial design. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is preferred. Previous internship experience, including hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase I, Phase II, and remediation is plus. Valid driver’s license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company’s vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
