The Department of Biology As part of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, the department of Biology offers an array of rigorous courses to serve pre-health, wildlife/ecology, and biology majors. Our goal is to provide our students with a broad contextual background in the biological sciences. We strive to prepare students for careers in the various disciplines of biology through experiential learning of lectures, laboratory courses, and scientific research. Collaboration between the faculty and students creates a rich learning environment. Description of Position The department of Biology is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, full-time faculty position in biology to begin in August of 2022. The candidate should have primary competency in physiology and/or endocrinology, but should also be willing and able to teach a wide array of biology-related courses. The teaching assignment will include lower and upper division courses in biology. Possible courses/labs to be taught include but are not limited to: human anatomy and physiology, general biology, cell biology, genetics, and endocrinology. Other responsibilities include student advising, recruiting of new students, and committee service. Research is an integral part of our program and is required of majors. This position requires the applicant to develop an active research program with undergraduates. Collaboration is encouraged and funding is available for release time, personnel and supplies. Qualifications Applicants must have a Ph.D. or D.A. in an appropriate field of Biology. Strong candidates will possess college-level teaching experience, will exhibit evidence of being able to form and/or maintain an active research program, and will be strongly committed to NNU’s mission as an educational institution sponsored by the Church of the Nazarene.
