We are seeking a highly goal-oriented and motivated individual to take on the role of Associate Application Scientist. The right candidate will have excellent analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and apply new analytical techniques. This individual will be instrumental for supporting the organization by developing critical applications within the market space. A basic understanding of chromatography techniques is suggested as well as an aim to learn new techniques such as sample preparation, LC-MS/MS, and GC. The candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment within a lean organization and must be willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure the job gets completed. Duties and responsibilities: Basic knowledge of analytical methods and techniques Work alongside the Application Science team to develop applications Ability to independently research, develop, and propose solution-oriented separation and sample preparation methods Maintain detailed, accurate, legible records of all experiments Work with R&D, Sales and Marketing to provide support and content for brochures, website, and seminars Work cross-functionally with R+D, Sales, and Operations to communicate project status and results Maintain all instruments and equipment in excellent condition, keep all work areas neat and clean, and follow all safety procedures without exception Knowledge, skills and experience: * B.S. in Chemistry or life science * Knowledge of practical HPLC workflows and hands-on experience in liquid chromatographic instrumentation like HPLC-UV, UHPLC-UV, and LC-MS/MS is a plus * Strong fundamental general chemistry knowledge, as well as a thorough understanding of experimental design and troubleshooting workflows * Hands-on experience with other chromatography and sample preparation techniques is desired * Strong problem solving and analysis skills * Ability to adapt to and handle competing departmental needs * Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities and changing business needs. * Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently and through effective lateral influencing * Strong process orientation, problem solving and troubleshooting skills and a firm commitment to quality Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work may be exposed to hazards or hazardous materials requiring use of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure.
