We are looking for a genuinely independent scientist with extensive experience in drug discovery on the fundamental biology of fibrosis, who seek a drug hunter who puts patients first as the central goal of his/her research. The location will be the preclinical research laboratories at our new state of the art facility in South San Francisco, CA, where you will be able to work with a group of vibrant and collaborative scientists. Beyond local connections, you will also leverage capabilities and technologies of the broader organization network, including sites in Boston/Cambridge (MA), Rahway/Kenilworth (NJ), West Point, and Upper Gwynedd (PA), and London, to advance your research program on fibrosis. A successful candidate will: launch and champion new and innovative initiatives in tissue fibrosis and fibrotic diseases be responsible for independently managing functional deliverables for assigned program(s) and for driving the scientific portfolio of the fibrosis group be able to coach, manage and develop a focused team of scientists lead discovery programs in fibrosis from target ID and validation to preclinical studies, and provide support to early and late-stage clinical development groups establish strong collaborations, both internally and externally, to establish a leading group on fibrosis will be highly self-motivated, possess strong experimental and technical research skills, have strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to work productively in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment within and outside of the Research & Development Division Education Minimum Requirement: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genomics or related discipline (Biochemistry, Pathology, etc.) and five years of post-doctoral training. Required Experience and Skills: Minimum of five years related experience in Industry Experience in tissue fibrosis or fibrotic diseases in Liver Metabolic Disease and Fibrosis Experience in whole animal physiology, extensive knowledge of rodent and non-rodent in vivo models of fibrosis Deep understanding of molecular pathways driving pathological tissue remodeling and fibrosis. Proven ability to solve complex problems by undertaking innovative approaches anding state-of-the-art technologies. Demonstrated experience in Project Leadership and moving programs across stage-gates. Preferred Experience and Skills: Deep understanding of tissue homeostasis and immunology Experience in genomics (RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing, metabolomics) Experience in Fibrosis of Heart Failure, Chronic Renal Disease, Pulmonary Fibrosis We are a research-driven biopharmaceutical company.
