Associate Scientist Summary of Position
This position will be responsible for (A) design, assembly, production, evaluation, and cataloging of DNA constructs for the optimization of transgene delivery by gene therapy across a wide range of targets. (B) the transfection or transduction of these constructs for the characterization of protein expression efficiency and protein product characteristics across a wide range of therapeutic targets

The Associate Scientist Is Responsible For

Roles and Responsibilities

– Assembly, production, evaluation, and cataloging of transgenes, gene delivery vectors, and other plasmids using internal and external resources
– Adhering to set timelines for completion of each target construct
– Maintenance of the appropriate cell systems for evaluation of protein expression
– Transfection or transduction of transgene constructs into an appropriate cell system to evaluate protein expression and characteristics
– Measurement of protein expression level and quality
– Tracking progress of multiple protein expression projects and prioritization of parallel projects to ensure timely delivery
– Ensuring documentation of all work in an electronic notebook
– Analysis and presentation of results to larger scientific group and at external conferences
Qualifications and Background Requirements

– BS or equivalent in a scientific discipline, and a minimum of 2 years lab experience or MS or equivalent with 0-2 years in molecular biology, cell culture, transfection, and protein expression analysis,
– Experience with design, assembly, production, evaluation and cataloging of DNA constructs
– Experience with Benchling or similar software and bioinformatics tools required for DNA assembly
– Experience with state-of-the-art technologies associated with DNA manipulation
– Knowledgeable with the transfection and transduction of primary and immortalized cell lines including maintenance of the cell lines
– Proficient in aseptic techniques for mammalian cell culture
– Familiarity with state-of-the-art technologies associated with transfection of cell lines
– Skilled in the evaluation of protein expression (SDS-PAGE, gel staining, western blotting, protein quantitation)
– Highly motivated and capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously
– Demonstration of detailed record keeping and data documentation
– Excellent work ethic and positive attitude, and strong desire to achieve individual and team goals
– Strong interpersonal, analytical and technical communication skills
Location

– This position will be based at Greater Philadelphia Area
– Occasional travel to scientific conferences to present work or for training courses
