We are changing lives, are you ready to make a difference? The Position Provides strong technical support to target discovery program and peer leadership in Obesity Research. Responsible for research experiments and data integrity, as assigned by management. Relationships Reports to a member of the Obesity Research Management team. Internal relationships include working with research employees, project managers, as well as colleagues in Diabetes & Obesity Research, U.S. Research, Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI), Novo Nordisk A/S, and Novo Nordisk Beijing. Serves as a mentor and peer leader to Research Associates and technicians within and outside of their project teams. External relationships include academic and industry collaboration partners. Essential_Functions * Achieves business goals, shares learnings, knowledge and skills, and promotes cross-functional teamwork. Complete assignments of diverse scope and complexity requiring a strong understanding and knowledge of techniques and practices related to the research area * Demonstrates a breadth of knowledge and skills to independently support development and management of research protocols in support of multiple drug discovery efforts * Demonstrates a high level of proficiency and understanding in area of specialization * Ensures data integrity. Conducts data collection, accurately interprets experimental data and formulates conclusions, and may communicate data externally. Ensures proper documentation of experimental data; may contribute to milestone/project documentation. Maintains laboratory notebooks * Works independently to identify the correct methods and performs manual calculations for sample preparation * In collaboration with the research scientist, designs and performs laboratory research experiments * Manages site inventory. Orders laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintains the laboratories and performs other job-related duties as assigned * Works with Department Heads and Scientists to ensure better practice sharing and implementation within the lab Physical_Requirements 0-10% overnight travel required. Qualifications * Bachelor s degree required. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience as appropriate * 6+ years of relevant experience required * Relevant experience includes: o Proficient in in vitro techniques such as stable cell line generation and development of high throughput screening assays o Knowledge of cell signaling and/or biochemical assays, molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in GPCR biology and pharmacology o Experience with liquid handling instrumentation, developing and implementing laboratory automation and data handling o Hands-on experience with cell and molecular biology techniques including cell based functional and phenotypic assay development and in vitro screening systems (e.g. AlphaScreen and HTRF-based second messenger assays, beta-arrestin recruitment, Ca2+/membrane potential, proliferation, differentiation) * Knowledge of other techniques such as primary cell line generation, cellular phenotyping assays or high-content imaging is an advantage * Experience with molecular biology and/or cell culture experience preferred * E xperience training technicians * Experience working with tissues and cells from different species * Computer proficiency and the ability and desire to learn new software programs is required * Good communication skills and cross-cultural understanding to interact in the global organization * Strong analytical skills for integrating and interpreting interdisciplinary data * Capable of working independently on highly complex tasks Novo Nordisk is an Equal Opportunity Employer – M/F/Veteran/Disability/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity.
