Attorney – Laboratory Services and Billing Compliance Waltham, Massachusetts | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Responsibilities Location Waltham, MassachusettsUS Job ID JR- Key Responsibilities: – Primary role and responsibilities will be the provision of day-to-day counsel to PerkinElmer Genetics on general commercial and compliance matters. This position may also be tasked with providing legal support to other Dx and PerkinElmer corporate functions, such as support for PerkinElmer’s Data Protection structure. – Collaborate with business partners at all levels of management to effectively balance minimizing legal risk while enabling execution of business strategic objectives – Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including laboratory service, licensing, research and development, software services, confidentiality, material transfer, clinical study, professional services, and general customer and supplier agreements. – Advise on legal risks and liabilities associated with different business transactions. – Provide assistance with merger and acquisition activities, including performing due diligence. – Create, improve and/or update form agreements and processes to improve aspects of contracting procedures and ensure alignment of contract terms with applicable law and regulation, and PerkinElmer policies and standards. – Create, improve and/or update compliance policies and procedures, and trainings to improve transparency and ensure business understanding and compliance with applicable law and regulation, and PerkinElmer policies and standards. – Additional legal responsibilities as knowledge of the Dx business and legal skills evolve. – Perform other related duties, as assigned or requested. Basic Qualification: – 3+ years of experience in regulatory/commercial/corporate experience required. – Experience with government health insurance programs and billing required. – Experience collaborating with management teams and advising clients in structuring business transactions, with experience in drafting commercial agreements strongly preferred. – JD from an ABA-accredited law school. Admittance to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, or other applicable state bar. Preferred Qualification: – Prior in-house experience is a plus but not required. – Ability to determine risk exposure and advise the business in a practical. – Excellent negotiator with strong influencing skills – Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, as well as a wide range of tasks – Customer-focused and solutions-oriented approach to delivering contract management services to internal customers – Strong analytical and creative troubleshooting skills – Ability to provide accurate, timely, thorough and well-reasoned legal advice – Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to craft and deliver clear communications – Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with others and to foster a climate of goodwill and cooperation. – Excellent judgment and personal and professional maturity and integrity – Ability to work independently and coordinate work of others – Desire to function as a true generalist; willingness to continually learn new subjects, rather than simply leverage expertise in just one or a few areas – Flexibility and ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities Additional Information: – Position may be located in Waltham, MA, Pittsburgh, PA or as agreed.
