Aviation Lab Assistant 11/2/2020 Community College System of New Hampshire Nashua, NH View All Jobs Expand Job Summary Company Community College System of New Hampshire Location Nashua, NH AJE Ref # Job Classification Full Time Job Type Regular Company Ref # 787_ Experience Entry Level (0 – 2 years) Education Associates Degree JOB DESCRIPTION APPLY This is a part time position, up to 25 hours per week, for the 2020-2021 Academic Year.SCOPE OF WORK: Performs mechanical and technical duties associated with the set-up, breakdown, and maintenance of aviation labs and equipment related to course instruction and assists faculty with lab and classroom instruction. This position reports to the Aviation Technology Program Coordinator at Nashua Community College.ACCOUNTABILITIES:* Tests, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on aviation laboratory equipment and assists with setup and breakdown of class and lab demonstrations and student projects requiring specialized equipment; cleans up and organizes tools and machines as needed;* Assists instructors in the preparation of instructional materials, in the implementation of learning activities and in the maintenance of overall cleanliness/safety in laboratory; sets up and operates machinery and equipment as necessary;* Under the direction of the Program Coordinator regular assessments and reports will be maintained that demonstrate compliance to safety standards as identified as necessary;* Monitors student activities and faculty progress with course assignments in both the lab and classroom environments, facilitating communication to assists with scheduling adjustments;* Provides technical assistance to students and faculty and monitors the use of all laboratory equipment to ensure proper use and care;* Explains and practices shop safety rules and procedures, including appropriate dress with students in the lab;* Seeks appropriate training with new or unfamiliar equipment or procedures from qualified instructor and/or Program Coordinator;* Coordinate and lead efforts at the program level to review, update, develop and deliver a safe working environment; maintain general laboratory safety policies and procedures in accordance to local, state and federal regulations;* Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations;* Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Associates degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in Aviation Technology or related discipline. Each additional year of area approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.Experience: One (1) year of experience in aviation technology, or closely related field. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.License/Certifications: Valid drivers license.RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of the procedures and practices of laboratory technology. Considerable knowledge of the use of laboratory equipment and skill in the application of techniques utilized in conducting analyses using complicated laboratory equipment. Ability to follow standard laboratory methods and procedures. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to maintain exact records of tests conducted. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
