Who we are: We are a young international team, who relocated recently to the NIH from Switzerland. We work on Dendritic cells and on the transcriptional regulation of lineage commitment within the NIDCR (building 30). You can find more information on the ‘Immune Regulation Unit’ on this link phd. Looking for: We are seeking for a motivated biologist/Staff Scientist who has an immunology background. The candidate will be evaluated based on her/his background. Experience in tissue processing and mouse handling is valued but candidates with limited experience will be considered. NIH experience is desirable. Your tasks: Organize and maintain together with the group the research laboratory. Work independently and together with the different team members. The candidate will have her/his independent project and will be expected to lead and present it to the group and the scientific community. All other tasks are d among group members and include: Oversee and maintain the mouse colony. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the laboratory; order the necessary media, buffers, reagents, tissue samples, supplies, chemicals and equipment. Organize and produce supernatants, antibodies and home-made reagents required by the laboratory. Oversee and maintain the laboratory stocks. Implement the laboratory procedures for cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology and microbiology. Perform and maintain cell lines and long-term cell cultures. Perform laboratory assays such as cloning, DNA and RNA extraction purification and sequencing as well as similar techniques. Analyze experiments, determine and verify validity of the generated data, compare results across experiment and in reference to existing published data. Present the results to the principal investigator and other scientific personnel interested in the project. Anticipate future as well as current requirements for supplies and equipment as projects proceed. Coordinate shipping and receiving of materials from and to outside sources.
