Day-to-Day Role: * Manage the coordination and overall integration of engineering projects * Provide direction, technical expertise, and support resources * Consult or negotiate with internal and external customers regarding project and material specifications, resources, timelines, costs, and other relevant information * Manage the design, analysis, modification, and implementation of unit operations equipment and processes for the manufacture of products * Oversee the procurement of unit operations equipment (i.e. pumps, heat exchangers, blowers, condensers, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, storage tanks, pressure vessels, silos, airvey systems, compressors, reactors, and extrusion and blending equipment, and prototyping equipment) * Conduct research, identify gaps and opportunities, and propose new or changes to existing material-based technologies * Oversee facilities layouts, equipment layouts, pipe runs, and stress analysis * Develop piping and instrument diagrams and control systems * Ensure compliance regarding new construction and existing processes * Manage site selection activities, including but not limited to, research of various locations to determine material access to the site, utility availability, and local regulations impacting plant * Estimate and manage capital budget and operating costs * Manage process hazard analysis * Research and implement cost savings opportunities for the company and external customer * Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions * Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions * Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved * Mentor staff and build team * Supervise and direct the work of others * Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, administration of policies, and scheduling * Make overtime, hiring, firing, and pay adjustment recommendations Core Skills & Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following: * Requires one of the following: * Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related experience, OR * Associate s degree and twelve (12) years of related engineering experience * Two (2) years of demonstrated technical leadership * Experience sizing and specifying unit operations equipment, calculating mass and energy balances, designing and specifying piping systems * Understanding of analytical and physical testing methods and be able to develop new ones as necessary to support new projects * Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products * Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications * Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models * Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products * Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems * Ability to successfully prioritize, and manage large, complex projects, deadlines, tasks, and teams * Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues * Ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally Overview: As the manufacturer of Dart and Solo brand products, Dart Container is an industry leading single-use food and beverage packaging company.
