Clinical Research Coordinator II – Spanish speaker strongly preferred GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The Clinical Research Coordinator II will support childhood obesity research projects in the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at MassGeneral Hospital for Children. The projects are funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Together, these projects aim to reduce obesity prevalence and related disparities by systematically improving the care and outcomes of low-income children with obesity throughout the US. These studies will promote and facilitate the uptake of a proven-effective pediatric weight management program in community-based health centers and evaluate the effectiveness of dissemination and implementation strategies. The Clinical Research Coordinator II will assist in the coordination of the projects’ implementation under the guidance of the Project Manager and Principal Investigator. Responsibilities also include survey administration and data collection which may occur in English and Spanish, entering study data and maintaining REDCap databases, monitoring outcomes and process data, and preparing reports. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: – Assists in the development of study protocols, surveys and interview guides, recruitment strategies, and data collection in collaboration with staff and study investigators. – Assists with Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, continuing reviews, and amendments. – Assists with study implementation efforts and training. – Manages mailings and distribution of study related materials, such as recruitment letters and study incentives. – Responsible for data collection, monitoring outcomes and process data, preparing reports, and providing feedback on process improvement. – Prepares data for analysis and data entry, and assists with formal audits of data, QA/QC checks. – Provides data management, coordination, and outreach as needed. – Reviews descriptive statistics and manuscripts, as required. – Works as an effective program team member. Contributes to the teamwork within and between departments. Regularly attends and participates in meetings. Provides constructive ideas, suggestions and feedback in a positive manner. Works collaboratively. – Other duties as assigned. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: – High level organizational and communication skills, with careful attention to detail. – Ability to operate independently with good judgment. – Ability to identify and follow through on project issues and use initiative. – Proficiency in various software packages, including Microsoft Office, REDCap, and other desktop tools. Previous experience using Epic preferred. – Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems. – Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality with diverse populations, including staff and patients. – Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects’ rights and individual needs. – Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly. – Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-2 years of directly related experience required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: A Clinical Research Coordinator II may assist with the training and orientation of new staff members. WORKING CONDITIONS: General office environment with ability to travel to research sites as required. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
