Clinical Research Coordinator – MGH Sleep Disorders Clinical Research Program GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The Sleep Disorders Clinical Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital is searching for a new Clinical Research Coordinator. We are part of the Outpatient Psychiatry Department of Massachusetts General Hospital. Our goal is to improve the understanding of sleep disorders and the relationship of sleep and psychiatric disorders. We are currently running clinical studies investigating the efficacy and safety of treatments for Insomnia as well as Restless Legs Syndrome. This position will provide invaluable experience for anyone interested in pursuing graduate study in the fields of Psychology, Public Health, or Medicine. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: – Collects & organizes patient data – Maintains records and databases – Assists with recruiting patients for clinical trials – Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc. – Verifies accuracy of study forms – Updates study forms per protocol – Documents patient visits and procedures – Assists with interviewing study subjects – Administers and scores questionnaires – Provides basic explanation of study and in some cases obtains informed consent from subjects – Performs study procedures, which may include phlebotomy – Assists with study regulatory submissions – Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria – Performs administrative support duties as required – Perform data analysis and QA/QC data checks – Develop and implement recruitment strategies – Act as a study resource for patient and family – Evaluate study questionnaires SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: – Careful attention to details – Good organizational skills – Ability to follow directions – Good communication skills – Computer literacy – Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects’ rights and individual needs – Ability to work independently and as a team player – Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems – Ability to analyze data and interpret acceptability of results EDUCATION: – Bachelor’s degree required. – Psychology, biology, neuroscience, and premed majors are encouraged to apply, but all are welcome. EXPERIENCE: – Prior research or clinical experience is recommended. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: – The Clinical Research Coordinator may assist with the training and orientation of other individuals who work with the study team.
