Job Summary: Responsible for scientific oversight and direction of the Genetics Laboratory. Education: Completion of a M.D. or Ph.D. in the appropriate biological science, including biochemistry, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution in order to obtain ABMGG board certification. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Board certified in Molecular Genetics/Genomics or Clinical Molecular Genetics and board certified (or board eligible) in Clinical Cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). Meets the qualification requirements of CLIA #88 for technical supervisor for a Cytogenetics and a High Complexity Testing Laboratory. Work Experience: 3 years of training or experience in genetics, in both Clinical Cytogenetics board specialty and Clinical Molecular board specialty. Prior experience as a Lab Director preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relations, delegation and planning. Effective communication skills and leadership qualities. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database computer application. Ability to intergrate the analysis of data to discover facts or develop knowledge, concepts or interpretations.
