Leads staff in advanced in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive and ensemble modeling, advanced statistical techniques, use of database tools and/or other approaches in quantitative analysis of complex business situations. Creates and implements solutions from initial concept to fully tested production and communicates results to a broad range of audiences. Expert use of current and emerging technologies to evaluate trends and develop actionable insights and recommendations to managements, via understanding of the business model and the information available for analysis. Expert use of all data types, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and high- complexity predictive modeling and fact-based management to drive decision making. Mentors fewer senior staff. Leads cross functional projects and programs. Routinely works on multiple highly complex assignments concurrently. As part of Dataworks, a new organization established at FedEx, you will be leading work that transforms how FedEx leverages its extensive data as an asset to extract insights and drive value. You will have the opportunity to be a part of a cross functional team of experts that develops cutting edge solutions like the FedEx Surround platform, which leverages artificial intelligence and predictive tools to proactively monitor conditions surrounding packages, allowing customer support agents to intervene if weather or track delays threaten to impede delivery times. Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus: Data Science / Engineer expertise as a thought leader and practitioner Experience analyzing large-scale structured and unstructured data using Scala, Python, R Experience working in Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, etc., with understanding of best practices used throughout industry Development experience within Cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform Experience in mathematical modeling of large-scale, real-world optimization problems and design of algorithms that obtain implementable cost-efficient solutions Experience using object-oriented programming languages such as Java and C++ Experience using CPLEX, Gurobi, or similar optimization modeling packages Process improvement experience and training/application of quality management processes and principles, e.g. QDM expert, Six Sigma, and Lean Experience in the transportation industry and understanding of evolving technology Use of data visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau to communicate results Experimental design experience Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline required. seven (7) Year work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, solutions implementation, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation development and/or predictive analytics. Demonstrated superior analytical skills with diverse analytics, data types and statistical software and applications. Outstanding interpersonal skills, written, and oral communication skill. Proven leadership skills. Domicile / Relocation: This position will be located anywhere in the United States. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs.
