A Day in the Life:The QA Director is responsible for leading the full Quality Assurance domain of the product lifecycle from concept to post-production support and maintenance of server / OS / desktop / web / mobile applications across the Education and Nonprofit Division. The QA Director will lead a team of QA leads, analysts, and automation engineers to create measurable value and collaborate with R & D leadership to deliver software to the market using industry recognized agile methodologies and best practices. The QA Director will be responsible for measuring and reporting various KPIs important to ensuring high-quality products to eliminate defects reported in production, and overall bug rates, etc. This person will contribute to QA efforts as needed to meet deadlines and expectations. The ideal person will be a servant leader, passionate about coaching team members to develop skills and career paths. This position will need to be skilled at identifying and removing roadblocks, while giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. The Quality Assurance Director will work with R & D leadership across the division to make hard-to-test features more testable for QA, understands the inner workings of technologies that have been tested, understands the importance of manual testing as well as the criticality of automated regression test coverage. Supervisory responsibilities including hiring, professional development, personnel issues, etc. of one or more QA teams including QA managers. Functional leadership for multiple QA teams. Lead both small and large, cross functional initiatives in a matrix managed structure. Maintain balance of business and technical acumen in decision making. Manage and report on team productivity and quality metrics. We are looking for someone who brings: Must demonstrate good decision-making and effective business acumen. Must be able to communicate in both written and verbal form. Must maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials. Must have a growth mindset and subscribe to a continuous learning philosophy. Demonstrate expertise and mastery in your area of technology and industry. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships. – B.S. or higher in computer science/technology field preferred or equivalent industry experience. – 10+ years of professional Software Quality Assurance experience. – 6+ years of technology personnel management or equivalent experience. – Prior success managing Quality Engineering teams in a CI/CD environment. – Experience working cross-functionally with groups like Software Developers, Product Managers, and General Managers. – Proven experience driving strategy around effective testing and automation. – Strong people-oriented management skills – experience helping those you work with grow and enabling their career and technical skills over time. – Extensive experience with all phases of software testing including test planning, functional testing, accessibility, and regression testing. – An understanding of the value derived from shipping code rapidly to production and learning/iterating on the results. – A deep understanding of web technologies. – Experience with automated testing frameworks. – Working knowledge of toolsets such as: – Build Tools: VSTS Online/TFS, TeamCity, Jenkins, Bamboo – Source Control: Git or like – Work Request Systems: TFS, Jira – SDLC Methodologies: – Agile, SCRUM, use of architectural patterns/frameworks – Strong leadership, listening, interpersonal and organizational skills – Ability to verify and define requirements for projects – Ability to properly assess and articulate riskGood People, Doing Good Things: Employees at Community Brands are techies and volunteers who strive to make the Company a great place to work.
