WHAT DOES A GREAT DIRECTOR OF QUALITY ENGINEERING DO?
A Director of Quality Engineering has a proven track-record that can bring the passion, work ethic and expertise needed to lead a strong quality engineering team. This is a senior leadership role passionate about scaling the organization and practices and delivering outstanding functionality and usability, with high quality, at a competitive velocity, managing direct reports and driving both waterfall and agile product delivery across multiple teams. The group includes teams that are responsible for both front-end and backend components across our Electronic Federal Tax Payment Systems (EFPTS).
Working in partnership with application development and business, you will establish strategic and operational testing technology best practices and processes to effectively and efficiently manage incoming demand of work, as well as, ensure successful implementation of software releases, ensure balance of capacity planning and forecasting of team tasks.
The Director role is also responsible for continual development and implementation of transformative programs to change and improve quality within the organization, i.e., moving from Waterfall to Agile methodologies. Will also be responsible for continued development and success of testing careers through mentoring and coaching.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU CAN EXPECT TO:
Drive Quality Practices and Standards across the Organization
Champion the culture of quality delivery through development engineering and product management
Lead, Manage and Mentor Large Mainframe QE Team
Drive growth and standards of Automated Testing Practices
Supervise and report on all quality metrics at team, process and production operating levels
Make data-driven recommendations to improve operational excellence, leading the implementation of new processes and activities.
Process-oriented mindset and high degree of familiarity with old and new mainframe test technologies and tools.
Utilize your experience in leading test automation initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
Degree in CS, Engineering or other technical/analytical degree, preferred
10+ years of related technical and business leadership experience with technical discipline
10+ years of management in leading large teams using various SDLC methodologies
PREFERRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and interpersonal) including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Solid experience in financial services payments industry
Experience in development of CI/CD or DevOps for Mainframe Testing
Experience and ability to contribute and direct at all levels of testing including unit, functional, automation, performance and scalability testing; be able to step in and provide leadership in test design and implementation
Experience with Cobalt, JCL, Batch processes a plus
