Florence Levy Kay Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health and Climate Change The Health: Science, Society, and Policy Program and the Environmental Studies Program at Brandeis University invite applications for a two-year, non-renewable Florence Levy Kay Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health and Climate Change, beginning Fall 2021. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in either natural or social sciences who study the intersection between climate change and human health. The degree must be in hand by the commencement of the fellowship and preferably received within the past six years. The Fellow will be appointed as a faculty member at the rank of Lecturer with a joint appointment in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and Environmental Studies. The Fellow will teach one undergraduate course per semester on topics of domestic or global environmental health. Course topics might include an overview course on climate change and human health, disaster management, zoonotic disease and vector control, or an advanced course in their particular area of expertise. Syllabi should include a focus on the health impacts of vulnerable populations and policy approaches and lessons learned. The Fellow will also actively pursue his or her own research interests with the support of a research fund of up to $4,000 per year. The salary for the first year is $60,000, plus university employee benefits and a modest moving expense allowance (around $1,500). The Fellow will contribute to the vibrant intellectual communities of Health: Science, Society, and Policy and Environmental Studies; interdisciplinary connections and mentoring are available and encouraged.
