Yes Position Location Fort Collins, CO 80523 Description of Work Unit The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences is home to one of the largest environmental health programs in the nation, and the only one that incorporates radiological health into its core curriculum. Students and researchers in environmental health investigate how natural and built environments affect human and animal health and seek solutions to minimize negative health consequences of environmental and workplace exposures. Radiological health focuses on the biological effects of radiation, including laboratory studies of the damaging effects of radiation, and clinical uses of radiation in diagnostic imaging and cancer therapy. Established in 1991, the High Plains Intermountain Center for Agricultural Health and Safety (HICAHS) is a federally funded research, intervention, and service center responsible for Public Health Region VIII and is housed in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University. The Center is multidisciplinary with faculty, students, and research associates from five colleges and eight departments addressing the mission of reducing occupational injuries and fatalities in agriculture, forestry, and fishing. The HICAHS multidisciplinary team is helping to solve this public health problem through sound research and interventions on topics such as tractor roll-overs, respiratory disease, middle-manager training, youth education and more. The HICAHS Research Assistant will provide support to faculty and staff involved in various research initiatives. They will also assist the Evaluation Team by supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting of evaluation project findings.
