Under Supervision by the Principal Investigator (PI) and HNRP supervisory personnel, incumbent will assist with coordinating the day-to-day operation of a longitudinal study investigating mechanisms of disparities in adverse neurocognitive outcomes in a population of Hispanics aging with HIV. Duties will include assisting with the determination of participant eligibility, tracking project recruitment goals and data collection. Incumbent will administer standardized tests of neuropsychological function including (but not limited to) intelligence, executive function, learning, recall, abstraction, perception, motor skills and coordination, attention and speeded information processing. They will also conduct standardized interviews of participants psychiatric history, substance use history, and a neurobehavioral screen collecting information on all participants history of language, educational and cultural upbringing. Other responsibilities will include assuring the accuracy of interview and collected test data, including identifying erroneous data and resolving any discrepancies in the data with assistance form investigators and HNRP supervisory personnel as needed. Assist the PI in preparing and managing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials. Meet weekly with study PI and HNRP supervisory personnel to review study recruitment and update personnel on progress made regarding all scientific and operational aims of the study protocol. Serve as liaison between the various multi-disciplinary investigators and administrative research staff and assist the study PI with database management, data analyses and manuscript preparation. Incumbent will also assist PI with new proposals, progress reports to federal and state regulatory bodies and renewals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ====================== * Theoretical knowledge of neuropsychology, neurosciences, infectious diseases (i.e., HIV), addiction, or related fields as typically attained by a bachelor s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience in administering neurobehavioral assessments (especially measures of intelligence, executive functions, learning, recall, abstraction, perception, motor skills and coordination, attention, and speed of information processing. ), psychological tests, and psychiatric interviews. * Bilingual, with the proven ability to administer tests and communicate with participants in both English and Spanish. * Proficient experience with word processing, graphics, statistical (especially JMP), and database programs. * Thorough knowledge of statistical concepts and ability to perform basic statistical analyses. * Proven ability to conduct data analyses, data collection, data tracking, interpretation and presentation. Ability to implement data collection forms and questionnaires pertinent to a research study. * Excellent writing and editorial skills. * Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews utilizing multiple sources of media. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a good working relationship with a wide variety of people (participants living with HIV and with psychiatric conditions, including active substance use disorders) using tact, diplomacy, confidentiality and flexibility. * Demonstrated experience working with people infected with the HIV virus and substance dependent populations. * Ability to assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in preparing and managing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials. * Ability to consult with data management, computer systems and statistics personnel in ad hoc meetings to plan analyses. * Experience tracking all scheduled participant assessment sessions and data collection using multiple online and paper-based formats. * Ability to assist with conducting structured and unstructured interviews and collecting information regarding participant substance use history, psychiatric history and everyday functioning abilities using questionnaires and testing stimuli. SPECIAL CONDITIONS ================== * Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. * Must be willing to work with people infected with the HIV virus and with histories of substance dependence. * Availability to work occasional Saturdays. * Must have a negative pre-employment TB skin test.
