Specifically, this position serves as a liaison with the University of Texas System (UT System), as well as a primary point of contact concerning university data definitions, business rules and data requests. – Job Details: General Notes IRRIS seeks a collaborative, methodical, and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with data and can quickly learn department protocol. This position will assist in accurate and timely reporting to state and federal agencies, including the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Additionally, this position will focus on the evaluation of current methodologies to improve processes that gather, prepare, transform, maintain, analyze, interpret, and report on large amounts of institutional data with an emphasis on documentation. Responsibilities Institutional Reporting Learn and navigate institutional resources to locate needed information; collaborate with subject matter experts; read existing code and documentation; reference existing data systems. Collect, merge, clean, document, and otherwise prepare data from multiple disparate sources for federal and state reporting agencies in SPSS. Learn and navigate federal and state reporting agency policies, rules, laws, resources, and systems related to federal and state higher education compliance reporting. Communicate and collaborate with federal and state reporting agency staff members to ensure accurate reporting. Data Requests Assist in compiling institutional data for requests needed for accreditation, college guides, data exchange, open records requests, and internal/external ad hoc data requests received by IRRIS. Exhibit patience, attentiveness, knowledge, flexibility, trustworthiness, positivity, tenacity, guidance, and willingness to learn in customer interactions. Documentation Produce and maintain documentation of data and finished reports. Organize and synthesize information to create clear, complete, and accurate documentation for all finished reports and data requests, including but not limited to: methodology, business rules, data definitions, etc. Identify, explore, and document legacy and new sources for data. Office Operations Follow and help to develop departmental protocols to inform and support team members. Work with existing protocols, business rules, and data systems and support the integration of institutional knowledge. Perform related duties as required. Required Qualifications Master’s degree with major coursework in the social sciences, information sciences, statistics, or a related field and at least two years of experience conducting data analysis using Excel, SPSS, Stata, SAS, or similar products. Experience writing documentation for technical audiences. A technical writing sample may be requested. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The candidate must demonstrate excellence in the following areas: attention to detail, organization and time management, written and oral communication, problem solving, compliance reporting, and data request completion. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team. The normal work environment will be on site, however, the department is currently working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. You must have access to reliable high-speed internet to qualify for this position. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with institutional/higher education data, research, and federal (IPEDS) and/or state (THECB) compliance reporting. Advanced experience or knowledge in the following areas: Statistics, SPSS, Excel, SQL, and/or Stata, meeting stakeholder requirements, working with complex datasets and/or databases.
