Description: Carnegie Mellon University is seeking four (4) Lab Assistants to support the Tartan Testing Program efforts. The Lab Assistants will support the sample intake process by scanning and validating samples received into the lab. Additionally, you will support and maintain inventory management. In this role, you will be responsible for the high-volume daily biological test procedures. This position will report to the General Supervisor of the Tartan Testing Lab. Core responsibilities include: – Receiving and scanning lab samples – Support and maintain laboratory inventory management – Assist laboratory testing personnel as needed Lab Protocols, Procedures and Practice Policies Must adhere to all laboratory protocols, procedures and practice policies, including but not limited to scope of practice, confidentiality and, all safety trainings/procedures. This is a fixed-term position through May 31, 2021, with possible extensions. 1st and 2nd shift only and no weekends or holidays hours. Experience in the following areas are preferred: – Research or clinical lab experience – Data entry experience – Inventory management Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: – High level of accuracy required with special attention to detail – Ability to effectively communicate technical information – Ability to maintain confidentiality, adhere to deadlines and work in fast-paced, high-volume team environment – Read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Recognize, evaluate, tackle problems, and correct errors.
