Mission The Colas Solutions Laboratory Technician will provide laboratory assistance with troubleshooting and adapting products for the Colas US companies for asphalt mixes, preservation products (spray applied, mixes, and emulsions), binders, and soils. The position, under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, will perform testing procedures and interpret data. The new employee will gain comprehensive experience by visiting job sites and learning how lab work relates to the field. Essential Functions Perform laboratory physical testing procedures in accordance with industry standards Calculate and record test results obtained Communicate test results to the Laboratory Supervisor; prepare data for reports and/or presentations of results for the company that submitted samples Communicate with COLAS Companies and laboratory personnel about on-going testing procedures and results Participate in personnel in-house proficiency training and competency evaluations Keep current on all safety training and follow safe work practices diligently Ensure that equipment is calibrated, verified, checked, and maintained according to schedule Other duties as assigned. Education & Minimum Experience General laboratory experience is desired Work and communicate well with other employees, vendors, and agencies Experience with interpreting laboratory results, plant and field data to make recommendations and improve quality Experience with conduct comprehensive technical studies Ability to determine if data is inconsistent and to communicate and take action Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of computer-based programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Ability to travel for overnight stays as required Knowledge of OSHA regulations and relevant consensus standards (i.e. ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc.) Must be able to write routine and complex reports and develop and analyze statistical data of finished and unfinished projects. Strong organizational and follow-through skills to prioritize work. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
