The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced R & D team conducting development and laboratory testing of new Siemens Healthineers Point of Care assays using a variety of innovative chemistry methods and instrumentation. The position will entail close collaboration with R & D scientists around design of experiments and analysis of the results. Together the team of scientists and research associates is dedicated to delivering quality and innovative products to our customers for use in near-patient testing settings. We strive to provide each individual with opportunities to develop technical skills, gain and knowledge, achieve breakthrough innovation, and understand and deliver what our customers want. Work closely with R & D sensor and reagent scientists in using a wide variety of laboratory methods and equipment to generate and analyze data to support the design, development, and transfer to manufacturing of new sensors and reagents. Making reagent formulations and testing them using analytical methods and clinical chemistry analyzers. Making aqueous solutions and blood preparations, assembling consumable parts, and executing sensor testing protocols on breadboard prototypes. Data analysis including presentation of results at department meetings. Maintaining a laboratory notebook and writing technical reports describing the results of reagents testing performed. Day-to-day upkeep of labs, maintaining R & D equipment and databases, ordering lab supplies. Contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and daily workflow. Job Requirements Required Skills / Qualifications: Associate’s degree in chemistry or analytical chemistry. Minimum of 1 year experience as industry working in an R & D setting or in a medical diagnostics setting. Preferred Skills / Qualifications: General wet chemistry skills. Previous experience using analytical instruments and clinical chemistry analyzers. Knowledge of basic electrochemical principles is desirable. Good quantitative skills and working knowledge of basic statistical methods. Highly motivated and able to work independently or in a team environment. To multi-task and to participate on multiple project teams. Good oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
