The National Airspace System Automation Evolution department is currently seeking a motivated, creative Lead Operations Research Analyst to design innovative solutions and make evidence-based recommendations to help the Federal Aviation Administration chart the future of aviation and modernize their infrastructure. The Automation Evolution department is designing the automation solutions that will lead the aviation and aerospace domains to a safe, efficient, and flexible operation in the future. As an engineer in this department, you will be working in the public interest to apply your systems engineering knowledge and expertise to design and evaluate new operational concepts and work in partnership with industry and government to address aviation s most challenging emerging problems. We focus on research, design, development and process that will accelerate the delivery of capabilities to the National Airspace System (NAS). To be successful you will: * Passionately apply your Operations Research and data analytic skills and experience to design robust automation solutions that will help the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chart and transition to the future of aviation. * Use your curiosity and interest to understand and solve complex problems using objective and quantitative methods including the application of statistical methods, modeling & simulation, and machine learning techniques. * Work directly with government sponsors and industry to gain an understanding of their challenges, evaluate solutions and conduct insightful, actionable analyses. * Communicate results and recommendations in an intuitive, actionable manner. Required Education/Experience/Skills/Certifications: * BS degree in operations research, systems engineering, computer science, or related field with 8+ years of engineering experience. * Applicant selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements for FAA suitability. * Expertise with technologies such as TensorFlow, Python, R, and Java. * Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and other Digital Engineering techniques. * Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, of complex and interconnected concepts. Desired Education/Experience/Skills/Certifications: * Ph.D degree in operations research, systems engineering, computer science, or related field with 15+ years of experience. * Hands-on domain experience in aviation and air traffic control.
