In this entry level position in the Global Product Stewardship (GPS) function in R&D, the manager of product stewardship is leveraging information owned by the GPS function i.e. regulations, human safety and environmental safety. The knowledge of all regulations and official standards that are impacting the chemical quality and the composition of materials or mixtures of materials (P&G products) is combined with input by other experts in GPS to confirm safety and regulatory compliance. The GPS assessment is crucial to provide strategic guidance to the business and to R&D. The geographical focus will be North America and Latin America as well as European Union and non-EU Europe. Supported businesses will be P&G Chemicals ( ) and Global Chemical Management (GCM), which is a GPS expert team for chemicals used in P&G products across all sectors of the company. In GCM, the stewardship role will be dealing with enabling the compliance of shipments of raw materials/products with major control laws like US TSCA and REACH of the European Union. Internal customers will be the fabric & home care sector and other businesses of P&G.
In this role you would:
* Lead regulatory compliance for P&G Chemicals (PGC) with support by GPS experts for Environmental Safety and Human Safety, coordinate and lead implementation of regulatory changes in the countries with PGC business.
* Be connected to other expert teams in P&G dealing with similar needs.
* Represent the company versus regulatory consultants and in industry working groups.
* Advise the business leaders and the R&D management on impact of changing regulation and manage new requirements like substance registrations, notifications to authorities and internal data management.
* Deal with e.g. US FDA regulations for products like food, feed, and pharmaceutical to advise on the needed PGC product quality, if sold to customers operating in these markets.
Global Chemical Management Work in a team of experts supporting/defending the continued use of P&G technologies and of raw materials critical for product performance. Own specific topics or product categories and the ingredients that need regulatory support on substance level in the markets in which P&G operates. Monitor governments and authorities and bring evolving changes into P&G &D to ensure new requirements are getting addressed in time to meet regulatory deadlines.
RNDPhD or equivalent in life sciences/(eco)toxicology or chemistry. Be interested in chemistry and in dealing with chemical regulations. Bring knowledge about what determines compliant use of chemical substances by industry and/or understand requirements for registrations of chemical substances.Have an excellent knowledge of chemistry and chemical nomenclature. Have a base understanding and an interest in criteria for environmental safety and human safety. Have a talent and personal interested in connecting people with different capability for understanding regulations or safety/toxicology. Be able to digest complex matters and to communicate impact on P&G and needs from other functions in a format tailored to different internal target groups. Be interested in continuous learning of new topics in partnership with other GPS specialists who have comparable focus areas in their roles. Be willing to be dealing with a broad range of topics ranging from understanding the categories of chemical substances used in consumer goods to regulatory framework across the globe and to knowledge about the mechnics of regulatory processes and about the involved governmental authorities and their processes. Have a proven ability to put science into practical applications (applied science) through project work, particularly in the areas of safety/risk assessments. Be prepared to invest into personal knowledge and to become a regulatory specialist advising the business and R&D. Have a high interest in developing expertise in full ownership of assessments of regulatory change, in strategic communication on changes, and on executing needed changes in a team context. Have excellent team work skills. Integrate complex technical data into measurable business actions. Be able to communicate tailored to a target group. Provide suited level of detail to internal management and to external partners (like US EPA) to support internal decisions and policy making. Be passionate to work with others to develop the message track based on input by internal specialists.
