NexantECA is seeking a seasoned expert to support sales generation and provide execution capabilities in M&A for the sustainable energy and chemical industries. In addition to five decades of support for conventional fuels and chemical projects, NexantECA is a major global player in emerging sustainable and renewable investments and technology developments. The successful candidate will join our team of industry experts located in New York or Houston. In this role, you will be engaged in M&A due diligence covering technical and commercial assessments to support sales or purchases. Lead and support business development by building client relationships, developing proposals, and developing thought leadership content

Engage as a core member of global teams with a focus on execution of due diligence assignments (commercial and/or technical) to support acquisitions and divestments in the energy and chemicals industries

Undertake robust and complex market, technical and financial analysis to appraise business performance and market trends

Target clients are diverse, ranging from Fortune 100 companies through start-ups, and venture capital, private equity, ECAs, etc. Investments range from tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to multi-billion dollar projects

Build and review integrated financial models

Project management manage and perform complex due diligence projects involving multi-site portfolios and multi-person project teams locally, nationally, and globally

Participate in cross-functional meetings with other NexantECA consulting offices and project teams

Provide coaching and training to peers, effectively managing deliverable work streams, client relationships, project budgets and the outputs of more junior consulting team members


Direct experience in conducting M&A in the Energy and Chemical industries is required

Overall 10+ years of experience conducting commercial and/or technical due diligence in the energy and chemicals industries, either with a consultancy or financial institution. International experience is a plus

Excellent academic qualifications from a leading institution with primary degree in a subject relevant to conducting due diligence in NexantECAs target industry. Degrees in finance, chemical engineering (with M&A experience), and chemistry/biochemistry. Relevant higher degrees are a plus (Masters, PhD, MBA)

Excellent writing and presentation skills in English are required

Strength in managing virtual and in-person meetings both internally and with clients

Travel requirement is up 25%

Experience writing comprehensive technical reports and report writing skills in Word and Powerpoint

Positive and flexible attitude, experience working alongside sponsors, investors, and lenders is required

Ability to develop and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients, identify and capitalize on sales opportunities, and mentor junior staff is required
