Job Summary Manage quality of a multi-plant consumer products manufacturer with focus on developing and implementing process improvements. Interface with Chemical Batching, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Research & Development (R & D), Sourcing, Marketing, Regulatory and New Product Development (NPD). Primary Duties & Responsibilities – Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment. – Create and maintain a positive and respectful environment for all employees that is free from intimidation and harassment. – Create, contribute, participate, and improve Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). – Coach, mentor and lead manufacturing Quality team. – Design, implement, maintain, and evaluate quality systems for aerosol and liquid filling operations. – General problem solving for aerosol and liquid packaging including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. – Create or revise standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, IQ, OQ, & PQ protocols, and control plans to ensure quality of product. – Provide advice and counsel to Purchasing in connection with the selection of vendors and purchase of materials; request the R & D department for required or changed material specifications; arrange where necessary for inspection of vendor’s plants to ensure conformity to specifications and adherence to stated manufacturing process. – Take ownership of the quality system and continued improvements to the plan. – Champion the upkeep and programming of GainSeeker Statistical Process Control (SPC) software and installation of measurement devices. – Analyze, interpret, and prepare reports concerning Quality. – Lead and support root cause investigations and analysis on quality related issues. – Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques (DMAIC) such as D.O.E, FMEA, 5 Whys, Pareto Diagrams for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action. – Effectively communicate with other Managers and Supervisors to ensure internal and external investigations such as CAPA and complaint forms are effectively communicated and completed in a time manner. – Responsible for the selection and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and disputes. – Comply with all Company policies and procedures. – Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Profile – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related science. – 5-10 years of experience in Quality & Manufacturing (preferably in consumer goods manufacturing) – 5-10 years of experience in managing a team of 5 or more Required Skills – Demonstration of team leadership and to be a driver of change agent methodologies and various communication tools – Knowledge and experience implementing Lean manufacturing tools and practices including 5S, Kaizen, SIPOC – Proficient with Microsoftr products and QE software such as Minitab and GainSeeker SPC. – Working knowledge on inventory management systems such as SAP – Excellent problem-solving skills (5 Whys, Fault tree, FMEA), including previous experience leading problem-solving groups – Excellent communication skills, both oral and written – Working knowledge and understanding of incoming material and component testing related to aerosol and liquid products – Ability to comprehend and follow the operating masters, SOPs, BOMs, and Test procedures – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Work Environment Working conditions include both an office environment and a manufacturing plant environment. Minimal travel.
