Department AB0102E Marketing Strategy & Planning, Exempt Function Sales Job Summary The Analyst in Market Research and Analysis is responsible for providing CF with information, analyses, and forecasts of the agricultural and fertilizer industries. Candidates with demonstrated/extensive experience in this field will be considered for a Senior Market Research Analyst level position. Job Description Job Responsibilities: – Monitors, evaluates and reports on the North American and world nitrogen fertilizer situation and collaborates with the Director and other Market Research Analysts to prepare supply/demand and price forecasts, providing frequent updates to Sales leadership and team. – Maintains/manages extensive databases containing factual information on North American and world fertilizer industries; collaborates with department members and Director to oversee industry supply/demand and price analysis. Triangulates data sources and conducts primary research to improve data sources and accuracy. – Presents data/analyses/studies concerning the U.S. and world agricultural and fertilizer industries via written reports and oral presentations to CF senior management, customers, and other internal and external constituents. – Responsible for scheduling and preparing the monthly fertilizer price forecast meeting used by Sales and Financial Planning and Analysis groups for annual and quarterly earnings projections, sales forecasting, and used to set CF’s annual budget. – Supports the development of CF’s fertilizer strategy, working closely with Sales product teams and Business Development on various projects. – Provides timely responses to ad hoc requests for information and analysis pertaining to the U.S. and world agricultural and fertilizer industries. – Supports the Company’s Public Affairs by providing information, data and analytical support on matters relating to agriculture and fertilizer. – Keeps abreast of legislative/regulatory issues worldwide that may impact agriculture, the fertilizer industry or fertilizer consumption. – Conducts market research studies on specific topics of interest to CF. – Evaluates and utilizes data and research from various agribusiness consulting firms and conducts field surveys to obtain market information. – Responsible for working with international fertilizer and/or agricultural groups, such as TFI, CFI and IFA, to represent CF’s view on various topics. – Conducts or assists with special projects as assigned by Director, Market Research, Planning, and Analysis. – Mentors and develops Specialist team members within the department. Internal Controls Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies. Successful Incumbents Will Have – Master’s Degree (masters in agricultural economics or business) – Strong analytical background, self-starter and takes initiative – Excellent communication skills (oral and written) – Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet/graphic/word processing/internet software, proficiency in statistical applications including Python or R preferred – Candidates with demonstrated/ extensive experience working independently and collaboratively will be considered as Senior Market Research Analyst Position Scope/Contribution The Market Research, Planning, and Analysis function provides the Company with forecasts, analysis and factual information about agriculture and the fertilizer industry. The work performed by this group supports tactical decisions made by the Company’s sales and supply chain groups, strategic decisions made by senior management, and provides key parameters on which the Company’s financial projections are based.
