Materials Certification Engineer, Materials Engineering In this role, you will become the main interface between SpaceX Materials Engineering and our government agency customers. The primary objective would be to manage all certification related activities between our team and our external counterparts but the role would also include reliability management tasks and technical writing. Skillsets that embody a high degree of organization, self-motivation, enthusiasm to learn and ability to work with limited supervision are highly preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: – Manage and execute spacecraft and launch vehicle material & process certification activities for U.S. government agencies (NASA Commercial Crew, NASA Artemis, Air Force, Space Force, NASA Launch Services) – Coordinate certification tasks and requirements with SpaceX Materials Engineering to ensure appropriate planning of deliverables to meet customer expectations in a timely manner – Organize and lead reviews, technical interchange meetings, and regular working group meetings with customer counterparts – Negotiate, develop, and ensure on-time delivery of certification products and customer data requests – Partner with build and flight reliability teams to enable targeted Materials Engineering support on work order instructions and issue tickets for critical processes – Provide technical writing support through development of new and revision of existing material and process specifications – Coordinate multiple projects concurrently and meet all documentation deliverable deadlines. Track shifting priorities and confidently work autonomously BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: – Bachelor’s degree in engineering – 3+ years of experience in the aerospace industry PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: – Bachelor’s degree in material science, engineering, physics, or similar technical discipline – Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills – High proficiency with basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email) – Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for the team’s spirit of innovation and mission of becoming certified in cutting-edge technology – Highly detail oriented, diligent, and hard working with excellent customer interfacing skills – Strong ability to work autonomously and willingness to learn by digging for answers but also by asking questions – Experience writing technical aerospace specifications ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: – Ability to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support critical project deadlines ITAR REQUIREMENTS: – To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
