Job Details Full-time$31,000 – $49,000 a year3 hours ago Qualifications – Word processing – Communication skills – Master’s degree Full Job Description Health Sciences Core Research Facilities – Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh – () The Health Sciences Metabolomics and Lipidomics Core (HSMLC) in the Schools of Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is a campus-wide d facility dedicated to advancing the use and application of mass spectrometry in basic and translational research at all levels, from first-time users to experts in the field. The center is supported by the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Science and the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology. The HSMLC is looking for qualified, highly motivated Senior Research Technician with a strong background in LC-MS method development who is interested in challenging themselves in the fields of metabolomics and lipidomics. Incumbents in this position would be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of facility. The individual will be involved in the design, performance, and interpretation of experiments related to the aims of the HSMLC. This includes processing and analyzing complex biological samples for liquid chromatography mass spectrometry analysis using both high and low resolution instrumentation. Engagement in communications with customers and collaborators will be part of the role. The incumbent will also be responsible for basic upkeep of the LC-MS systems. Strong mechanical, instrumentation, and troubleshooting skills are desirable. We require a highly motivated, team player, and quick learner with exceptional communication and troubleshooting skills. The ability to utilize research articles and other scientific literature to design experiments is also desirable. Demonstrable familiarity with word processing, scientific graphing software, and MS data analysis software is critical. Exceptional relevant experience in mass spectrometry and chemistry may be substituted for minimum education requirement.
